Recap EPIC 2012 with our video library
EPIC 2012 is over, but not forgotten. You can still access our video archive! If you've never been to EPIC, you can get a sense here what the conference is all about. If you were there with us in Savannah last fall, you can check out the sessions you may have missed. Either way, we're overjoyed to provide this resource to you this year. Happy viewing!
Podcasts of (most) talks are now online
Last year saw the launch of our new podcast program thanks to the generous support of SapientNitro. Podcasts offer a new way for EPIC to live beyond the conference. In this, our second year, nearly all speakers including one keynote are available as podcasts. Links are embedded in the page for each paper, and in paper session views. Or just go to the podcasts page and download them all to your iPod for your morning commute or when you hit the road for your day's run. And if your colleagues need any convincing, send them a link of your favorite podcast... next year ... London!
Thanks to SapientNitro and to our podcast editor, Thomas Wingo.

Welcome to EPIC 2012: Renewal
Welcome to our site for EPIC 2012. The theme of this year's conference, our 8th annual gathering, is Renewal. In our current period of economic, political and social turmoil, we felt it important to take time to reflect on the context that we are working in, and to ask how that context may (or ought?) to shape our work. Are we agents of renewal? Are we ourselves renewed?
Savannah College of Art and Design [SCAD], our host for this year's gathering, provides an ideal backdrop for these reflections. SCAD has long contributed to the renewal of Savannah, a gracious southern city that exemplifies the dynamic and sometimes uneasy relationship between change, stability and stasis.
Our hope is that this theme plays out both on stage and off; in the hallway conversations, the Q&A and out in the city itself. We hope that this context of renewal will encourage attendees to reflect on their own contribution to the field of applied ethnography and on the role of EPIC in pushing our community forward.
